Becoming Canadian

Becoming Canadian captures the life-changing moment when individuals become new citizens.

Every year, hundreds of thousands take the Oath of Citizenship and officially become Canadian citizens. It’s the emotional culmination of a long and often rocky journey, fuelled by the hope and promise of what it means to be Canadian. This series captures that milestone moment as new citizens share the unique path they’ve taken to become Canadian.

Engaging short-form testimonials from ceremonies across Canada will begin to roll out online this January. Compelling longer stories will be aggregated for a six-part television series.

Becoming Canadian explores what it means to be Canadian by taking a closer look at the diverse paths we walk to get here.
